RHH: Where has people's respect gone………………..?
I mean Biggie Smalls was an icon in the 90s and gets/got respect from almost every rapper who ever touched a mic both before and after he died. So what’s the problem? Were you guys just randomly smokin’ a blunt and watchin’ Kill Bill Vol 2 one day and just out of nowhere say, "man f*ck that Biggie Smalls n*gga, he ain’t shyt. I only liked him in the 90s because his sweaters looked cool. Ready To Die wasn’t even classic."
Where did this random hate come from because I know we all loved Biggie in the 90s.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ljjVz8uPs Ls
I talking about people saying he’s not even in the top 10 or 20 and shyt like that.
@ Talib, Damn I was going to go with the original too.
But not just off of the question today, I asked for a top 10 list awhile ago and only 1 guy out of like 12 put Biggie on the list.
This is no worse than
"Tupac was overrated"
"Kool G Rap was one dimensional"
"KRS-One isn’t that lyrical"
Etc.
Some people just don’t see the greatness in certain 80’s-90’s MC’s that a large number of fans do. Period. If you read between the lines, You’ll hear many dedicated hip hop fans state his content wasn’t to their liking, or they didn’t feel he had much outside of flow, or they felt there was a lot of filler on Life After Death etc. If you put an open question about a great MC who clearly had his flaws, don’t take the answers you weren’t expecting as blasphemy. Also, respect isn’t equal to popularity. R.A. The Rugged Man is respected and Biggie is said to have said "I thought I was the illest" about him and he’s hardly popular.
Everything else about E-Popularity and underground stannery is irrelevant.
I don’t have One Be Lo in my top 10 and I sure as hell don’t care about e-popularity.

Have you noticed that those same people including my father Cap are respected users here? It’s about being E-popular that’s all.

Biggie is an icon. He flowed the first two rap songs I actually loved (Big Poppa, and Mo’ Money, Mo Problems). I remember coming home from elementary school and just turning on BET and MTV as I wanted to hear them songs. I picked Biggie over Rugrats! LOL.
He’s also the only poster I ever put up in my room who was a rapper. Not Rakim, 2Pac, Kanye West, Jay-Z, etc. It was that muthafukcer Biggie Smalls.

Because Biggie Smalls sang enduring, meaningful classics such as "I Need Another B*tch" And his other iconic friend Tupac sang other enduring, lovely classics such as "F*cking With The Wrong N*gga". Neither deserve my respect. They were low-life thugs.
